What's it going to take to turn someone that was never athletic into an ironman in less than one year...?

25k run- left it all on the field...
So I feel I'm finally getting less embarrassed about my running. 25k/15.45 miles in approx 2:36, which means a 10:05 pace- which is a sort of pace I can't normally keep in endurance runs.
Fortunately, ALL my friends are faster than I am, which means I constantly have people to try to catch up to. Otherwise I'ld be a lazy, cocky, S.O.B...
The differences in this race were: cooler temperature, using my ipod, and inadvertently doing a pretty major taper to the race. Chia seeds and 'gu' were in use again, but I started the caffeinated 'gu' a couple minutes before the race started so as to try to use the stimulant more throughout the race, rather than just as a backup. Could feel a sort of ebb and flow of energy, and thus pace.
- I had a powerbar in my camelback which I didn't touch till the last 2 miles, when I really felt that I had an energy deficiency. I may need to go ahead and plan on consuming the bar at certain time intervals so as to avoid that feeling.
After the run, I had to force myself to eat, and I had some good friends order me to keep walking around, and to keep hydrating cause I already looked thinner, especially in the face (aw, thank you!). Was a great race for myself, even though I was trying to see if I could make that 10:00 mile pace.
Chocolate milk on the way to brunch (barely touched anything). Afterward, an ice-water bath (it works!), then an epsom salt bath.

1 year to 140.6 miles...
Sunday, November 7th, the Ford Ironman Florida opened registration at noon. Thanks to a wifi connection I was able to be on my laptop at noon to register while I was up in Conroe to see the ironstar half-ironman. (and then bagpipe for the athletes on their run)
My first half-ironman, Prairieman, was one of the greatest things I had ever done. It took me over 7 hours to complete, in 104 degree heat, and a run that had no shade.
My strength is definitely my swim, my weakness my run. So to push my running, I have signed up for the Houston marathon in January, and have already knocked out a 17 mile run. Couple months after that, I plan on competing in my 2nd half-ironman in Galveston. After the Texas beer Fest finishes the first week in May, I plan on relinquishing all my free time in pursuit of the coveted distance.
current weight: 211 lbs
Current half-ironman time: 7 hours 20 minutes.
